Golf Cart Rentals:

Our team has 4 - 4 passenger carts reserved and paid for by the team. For Sporting Clays and Super Sporting Clays.

Sunday - June 21st (optional practice)

The full range isn't open as they have another shoot happening. They typically will have the river course open for practice. We don't shoot that course during the event and this is a course you can drive your car on. Optional but great practice.

Meeting time is 2:00PM at the Nashville Gun Club. Please meet in the parking lot pictured below at 1:50PM

I will get the needed card to shoot and we'll get started on the course. Cost should be around $30-50 depending on how much you shoot.

Monday - June 22nd (Sporting clays)

We will have carts by 1 hour prior before your shoot time.

I recommend that you meet up at on the 3rd from last field. (There are 3 large trees there for shade) (near the end of the gun club and close to where you'll drive onto the sporting clays course)

They will have a sporting clays safety briefing 20 mins prior to each flight time. This is at the pavilion on the course. (See image above)

After you leave the pavilion you'll have a scoresheet and a phone number if you run into issues. You will then head to your starting station.

Important:

Adults - make sure you start scoring on the scoresheet at the right station. If you are pulling always make sure that the stations are pulled consistently.
1. Scorer should always call (lost & dead birds) Example: A-hit B-hit "Dead Pair" A-hit B-miss "Dead / Lost" both-missed "Lost Pair" at the end of the round call out "Shooter out with X" (X being the number of dead targets) so if they break 5of6 "Shooter out with 5"
2. Puller or "Trapper" - Always call out the menu card "This station is 3 Report Pairs" then let the shooter (and the team) see up to 2 show pairs. For report pairs they will call "pull" twice or call "pull" and "Bang" to signify the report of the gun.
Make sure each athlete is checking that the scorekeeper has the correct scoresheet
Make sure you have multiple chokes available. This course will have some longer shots.
If a scorer calls out the wrong score it HAS TO BE CHANGED at the station before moving on.

We will be doing the shoot in 2 waves of our team note times below.

Skeet Doubles

In doubles you'll start on 1 go around to 7 then back to 2 for the first round (24 shells) on the next round you go to 1 then to 7 then back to 1 (26 shells) which will be 50. There are NO OPTIONS. The only station that you'll shoot differently is station 4. When you are moving from 1 to 4 you shoot High House first. When you are moving from 7 to 4 you shoot low house first.

TNSCTP State "Super" Sporting clays

In the past they had dedicated Trappers for this event. The scoring might need to be done for the event as well so in that event the coach can keep the secondary score sheet. (50 Rounds)

Important*** In super sporting clays they will have Singles at a station. Multiple Singles and these work like (5 Stand). For Singles Always load 2 shells and take the second shot at the target if you miss.

Unlike sporting clays what makes it super is that you don't shot the same combo of targets multiple times.

Important information for all competitions

Safety

Remember M.A.T.- Muzzle, Action, Trigger. Always keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction, action open, and finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
No more than two shells in the gun at any given time
Keep 12 gauge & 20 gauge shells separated. 20 gauge will always be yellow
7 1/2 - 9 Shot only, No larger than 1 1/8 ounce
EYES & EARS - athletes, coaches & observers at ALL times.
No toe pads - guns should never be placed on foot
Always carry guns safely & in such a manner that an open and empty action is clearly visible
If your gun malfunctions or does not fire, keep it down range (and raise your hand) until a coach assists you
ALWAYS have your gun through the Station Window before loading shells
No driving of golf carts without a driver's license
Always stay out of the sun and rested drinking lots of water

Time management

Athletes need to be at their assigned stations no later than 30 minutes prior to scheduled shoot time with correct ammo & gear in place
Athletes need to be in place & ready to shoot when it is their turn
Remind Lead Off athlete to keep squad moving
Time limit for trap (100 targets): 1 hour
Time limit for skeet (100 targets): 2 hours
Time limit for sporting clays (100 targets): 3 hours

Other

No coaching is allowed during events
Parents are not permitted on the field while athletes are shooting
Only athletes can protest a score or call for a "chip", and this must be done before the athlete moves positions
Scorekeepers should clearly call "LOST" when an athlete misses a target, and read all scores aloud at the end of each station
Please be quiet when others are shooting. We don't want to be a distraction to the other athletes just like we wouldn't want that to happen to our team.

Skeet

If an athlete breaks both birds with same shot: first bird established dead, proof double to determine second bird
Break wrong bird first: first bird established lost, proof double to determine second bird
2 gun malfunctions AND 2 ammo malfunctions allowed per round (of 25)
Do not take a break between rounds if a round takes more than 30 minutes Shoot 50 break then shoot another 50.

Sporting clays

NOTE: The recently passed NSCA Rule regarding squad members coaching each other does not apply to SCTP Tournaments.
Opposing squads take turns scoring & trapping
Athletes need to confirm their name on the sheet with the trapper before shooting
Be Polite! Do not crowd the squad in front of you as your move forward & keep noise down while others are shooting
3 gun malfunctions are allowed, after 3 malfunctions the bird will be called lost
Make sure you start scoring on the correct station
Squads must pick up all shells/trash on their last station
Return all scorecards immediately after your rotation ends
Report Pair
- A "No Bird" or Gun Malfunction on 2nd bird: first target established lost or dead, repeat the pair for the score of the second target
True Pair
- A "No Bird" or Gun Malfunction: No score for either, repeat the pair

Trap

2 Failure to Fire (ammo or gun malfunction) allowed per round (of 25)
Athletes must turn right when rotation from Post 5 back to Post 1
Take 50 to the line, only take a break after 50 targets
Coaches & Scorekeepers are responsible for reloading the machine after the 50 break and once the team finishes

Other items to note:

Nashville can be crowded allow plenty of time to get to and from the Gun Club. They should have food trucks there. Please stay hydrated as it is typically really, really, HOT.

Restrooms are at the clubhouse and they will have port-a-potties setup as well.

At our campground (Two Rivers Campground) we have a pool and the kids can come swim together as long as everyone is well behaved the campground has been gracious to let us do this for the team.

Take lots of photos and videos. Post them in the team chat and videos can be sent to Scott Dunn reach out to him to arrange for these to be used on social posts.
