The Unaka Shooters are a Tennessee (Region IV) Scholastic Clay Target Program (TNSCTP) shotgun shooting team, sponsored by the Unaka Rod and Gun Club, is organized under the auspices of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation and the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). It is a Trap and Skeet shotgun shooting team for young people grades 4th - 12th, male and female.

We have had success in the SCTP program. In 2016, our team had 2 National SCTP Champions in skeet (one varsity skeet with 200 straight and one collegiate skeet) and a doubles skeet champion at Jr. World. In 2015, we had a participant place 3rd in National SCTP skeet competition while their skeet team placed 10th in the nation competing against over 30 states. We have also produced two state champions in skeet: one JV champion in 2013 and one varsity champion in 2015. We had a JV State Champion Skeet Team in 2013. We have also produced several All-State Team Members. Our trap teams have also achieved success. In 2018, Unaka Shooters had 2nd place Rookie Female in our State Competition. In 2013, we had a regional champion JV trap team, Regional High Over All JV Male, and Regional High Over all JV Female. In 2014, we had an intermediate team place first as well as a varsity shooter placed High Over All Female. We also have had Rookie High Over All Female as well as several team awards.

Most of these athletes had never competed with a shotgun or had even fired a gun before. Whether you want to compete at a high level or just learn how to safely shoot a shotgun, this program has something for everyone at any level. We look forward to safely teaching youth shooting sports where they can also learn discipline, sportsmanship and leadership.
